Enable 5.1/7.1 /4.1 channel sound in Fedora

Hello friends,

I am now going to show you how to enable 5.1/4.1/7.1 channel sound in your fedora. First of all your hardware should be capable of playing these formats.

The reason for this post is I couldn't find any simple post which explained how to enable 5.1 channel so, I thought it would be nice to have a simple explanation with pictures.

1. Open terminal and type "alsamixer"

2. A screen will be opened as shown below

3. Now Press F6 and select your sound card

4. You will have multiple columns like this :

5. Now keep pressing the right arrow you will find something called  <channel>


6. If your hardware is capable of playing 4.1/5.1/7.1 according to that you will find no of channels, I have G31PR with intel audio no other sound card but it is capable of playing 5.1 channel and all I can see is 6 channel max. and hence I have selected 6 ch.

7.  Press ESC to exit.

and that is it my friends. I am already enjoying 5.1 channel. so enjoy.

Put your own Spray logo in CS 1.6

Hey guys,
If you are a counter strike lover and want to put your own logo in your game , you can do it as follow..
just follow the steps and done... :) :) :)
step 1 : Download following software called   : HL TAG CONVERTER

step 2 : select any image that u want to put as logo then apply height and weight settings and then Save Tag

step 3 : save tag as .wad file and name it as tempdecal.wad

step 4 : Copy and past this new tempdecal.wad file to the C:/Program Files/Counter-Strike 1.6/cstrike
folder. and that's it you are done.

Caution : First of all save/configure your cs because after loading logo it may not be possible to configure it .
I suggest you should take back up of original tempdecal.wad file  so in future you can come back to default settings.

Disabling Mozilla-Firfox to open in "WORK OFFLINE" mode in linux

Hi friends,
To disable the Firefox to open in OFFLINE mode every time you open it follow the following steps.
1. Open browser and type - about : config

2. Click on "I'll be careful, I promise!" button. This page will open.

3.Just below URL you will find Filter :
In Filter type network.manage-offline-status
By default its value will be FALSE double  click it and make it TRUE and then close the firefox and restart it.
It will from now on wont go in "WORK OFFLINE" mode.
Leave comments whether its working or not with me it worked I am using Fedora 15.

Setting JAVA_HOME & CATALINA_HOME for running servlet programs using TOMCAT 7(Windows 7)

Download JDK  & Tomcat 7 from here
JDK : http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/index.html

Tomcat 7  : http://tomcat.apache.org/download-70.cgi

install both the software.

After installing
1. Go to My computer's Properties.
2.Go to Advance tag.
3.Select Environment Variables.
4.In User Variables : click new
               add new Variable Name : JAVA_HOME.
                               Variable Value: C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.7.0_03
(Set path according to your jdk version)
5.Add new variable name : CATALINA_HOME
   Variable Value : C:\tomcat7
Here , I have installed(extracted from the .zip file) in C:\tomcat7 that is why the variable value is
C:\tomcat7 , if you have installed tomcat in Program Files then path would be like
C:\Program Files\Apache-tomcat7..... (i have renamed the folder "Apace-tomcat1...." to simply "tomcat7" in my case.)
(DO NOT INCLUDE SEMICOLONS IN THESE TWO VARIABLE VALUES)
6.Add these both to existing PATH variable as follow.(IF PATH VARIABLE DOESN'T exists then add a new variable named PATH in side the USER VARIABLES , don't mess with SYSTEM variables if  u don't know what you are dealing with.)
PATH=.;%PATH%.;%JAVA_HOME%\bin.;%CATALINA_HOME%\bin;
PATH=(DOT)(SEMICOLON)%PATH%(DOT)(SEMICOLON)%JAVA_HOME%\bin(DOT)(SEMICOLON)%CATALINA_HOME%\bin(SEMICOLON)


And thats it
Open command prompt and type startup
it will open a new Command prompt window for tomcat and last line would be service will start  in 2045ms (something like this not the exact line)
And thats it.... Its configured to run servlet programs.

Using USB TETHERING to connect to INTERNET from SAMSUNG GALAXY Y(young).

Hey guys n gals ,
This is about using Galaxy Y to access Internet using USB data cable.

1.Download a software(SAMSUNG KIES 2.0) from Samsung site given below.

2.First connect your galaxy Y with your Laptop/PC using USB cable.

3.Start USB Tethering
         
4.To start USB Tethering go to              1.Settings
                                                               2.Wireless and network settings
                                                               3.Select Tethering and portable hotspot
                                                               4.Select USB tethering
5.This much is done??? I guess so  then start installing that software u downloaded from the above
given site.

Just simply follow instruction (keep doing next next)
Voila .... You will be connected to Internet after installation.
(This was the case with me.)
